Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow: Sailing in Greece Is a Timeless Holiday Choice
By MedSailors Crew published on 15 June 2015
Although Greece’s economic woes have been widely reported by the world’s media, there is one area of industry in the country which has remained virtually untouched by financial troubles: tourism.
And it is not hard to see why. Greece is so well established as a top holiday destination that both long-time visitors and those new to its shores continue to be drawn in by the stunning scenery, beautiful food and vibrant nightlife. Even as Europe has battled the economic downturn, visitor numbers to Greece have steadily risen year on year, proving that the tourism industry is increasingly buoyant.
Statistics suggest that the popular areas of Mykonos and Crete are about to see an influx of new luxury accommodation choices, hopefully boosting the economy further. But even though there are extensive plans for expansion within the hotel sector specifically, sailing in Greece is perhaps one of the best ways to make the most of what the country has to offer whilst seeing as many sights as possible.
To call the Greek tourism industry resilient in the face of such economic challenges is really to do it something of a disservice; after all, it never really went away. But however you choose to enjoy the islands of Greece, you can rest assured that you will be experiencing one of the world’s best-loved holiday destinations. And it is one that will never go out of fashion.
