After holidaying in Croatia in 2003, former UB40 manager and club promoter extraordinaire Nick Colgan opened The Garden Lounge with his wife Charlotte, and the two pretty much single-handedly gave life to Croatia’s now banging music scene.
So, how exactly did they get the word out about their new venture?
They threw a party, of course! Said party was called The Garden Festival, but you’ll probably now recognise it as the unforgettable force that is Love International. There may have only been a few hundred partygoers there for its first year, but it was immediately clear that the organisers were on to something super special.
This secret festival, which attracted top DJs wanting to play for the love of playing, didn’t stay secret for long. Just two years later, 3,000 music lovers arrived in Croatia ready to dance.
